The Looooong Road Home

Another LONG over due post..... Everyone tells me to just skip the months I've missed and start with the current month, but I just "can't" bring myself to do that!

My best friend, Amanda, had her second son on March 9th. Meet Zerick Alexander.

Zack, Drew and Jill as Miss Heidi's Musical Gymnastics. They have their own "private"class, which is what they really need to work on their motor skills.

The line forms to the left ladies (Z)

Just a cute pic of Milly

Not your typical ballerina, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.

My evergreen clematis in full bloom growing up the pergola. Hopefully, it will one day provide shade under the pergola.

The kids were on Spring Break from preschool the first week of April. I took them to SC the Thursday before their break with plans to leave them for the week in SC while Rick and I got things done in TN. Patty, Mark and Eugene took DJZ to Riverbanks Zoo on Saturday.

Sunday I headed back to TN all by myself. My mom and sisters normally divide and conquer the kids. On my way home, I talked to my mom and she told me my brother, Tony, really wanted to take Drew with him back to NC for the week. He was not traveling that week so it would be good timing. I was kind of taken a back and not sure she was being serious. I talked to Tony and he really did want to take him! I called Tony's wife, Tina, and gave her a heads up and she was very excited about the idea of having Drew for the week. I had no problem with Tony taking him, but it kind of threw me for a loop and before I knew it I looked up and saw a sign that said something about VIRGINIA! Oops! There was still a detour on I-40 because of the rock slide and I obviously went in the wrong direction about 2 hours into my trip...... I had a GPS in the car too....the GPS was all out of sorts and talking nonstop to me (it did not know I-40 was closed) so I was ignoring it..... I think I heard is say something about a "u-turn" and that is what made me start paying attention to the road signs. My family KNOWS I have no sense of direction, so they got a big kick out of my 4 hour trip turned 7+ hours. Only me!

I received an e-mail from my mom the next day saying this about Zack:

"I have Zack while Amy is playing tennis. Haven't heard from Meg & Jill. Zack is playing with my jar of rocks. I told him they have to stay on the top of the chest in the sun room so they won't be scattered all over the floor. He is very content. He just heard my laptop sign off and say "Goodbye" and he said "Goodbye Daddy." Then he went running to the door and started calling me. I told him I was sewing, then he said "You be here?" I said "Yes, I'm going to be right here." He said "I'm going to play with the rocks." and ran back to the rock jar. He was just checking. Totally no trouble by himself. "

Drew, Will, Zack, Jenny, Emily and Jill in a pile up.
Drew when he first arrived at Tony and Tina's late the first night.

Drew doing what he does best...no matter whose house he is at.

Tony thought we actually let him turn the vacuum on. They listened to that noise all week!

Drew and Tony at Pepsi. Drew got a Pepsi shirt as a souvenir.

Drew had a great time spending the week in NC with Tony and Tina.
Jill had a blast with Aunt Meggie running errands, shopping and taking Jackson and Nate to school.
Zack enjoyed hanging with the Odom clan and being silly with Will and Emily.
Kate and Rick enjoyed getting so much done around the house. A win-win for everyone!
